System upgrade alert
As part of regular maintenance, there will be a system upgrade over the weekend of the 14–17 December 2018.
How does this affect me and when is the upgrade?
Some links on the Sonia homepages will be unavailable to all staff and students:

This is the Clinical Placement system used by the Paramedic Science Program at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Once you have logged into Sonia Online, your School homepage will become active. From here you can access information relating to your Clinical Placement including:
- your placement details;
- Forms and information for Mandatory Pre-Clinical Requirements;
- Reminders and important dates;
- Electronic forms;
- Facility information;
- Uploading and viewing pre-placement documentation.
The mandatory requirements for first year students are to be completed by the first Friday in June.
Click on the appropriate buttons below to be directed to information relating to that specific requirement, which will direct you to any forms, brochures, websites or other applicable information that you will need to fulfil the requirement. To be eligible for placement ALL mandatory requirements must be submitted by the due date.
Upload the following to your Sonia account:
- Evidence of annual Influenza vaccination
- First Aid and CPR certificates
- Mental Health First Aid certificate
- National Police Certificate
- QAS Medical Assessment ‘Fit Slip’
You do not need to upload the following:
- Blue Card – The Clinical Placement Office receives a copy directly
- Evidence of immunisations and/or immunity – take this with you when you have your QAS Medical Assessment

PLEASE NOTE: You will be granted full access to SONIA Online, once you have been enrolled into your program.
If you have extenuating circumstances that may delay your submission of any mandatory requirement it is essential that you contact the Paramedic Clinical Placement Office to request an extension.
If you experience any technical difficulties with Sonia, please direct these enquires to IT services (including screenshots and a full explanation of the error and the device you are using).

Student Paramedic Uniforms
You will be required to purchase the student paramedic uniform which includes shirt, trousers, boots, belt, personal protective equipment and soft shell jacket before going on placement. The approximate cost of the full uniform set is $550. You will be notified by the Placement Office by email when fittings are scheduled.
You will also be required to purchase other items of personal medical equipment such as a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer.
Travel and accommodation
All travel and accommodation expenses incurred whilst undertaking clinical placements are the responsibility of the student.
Please note: While the University will attempt to place you close to your preferred placement area for clinical practicum courses this cannot be guaranteed and you may be required to undertake some of your clinical placements outside the region or in a rural area within Queensland.
